Here! Give here YOUR INPUTS about the organisation of wsf events

1/4 - INVITATION

It was decided at the last IC meeting of the WSF in Nairobi that an assessment would be made of the WSF events held in the past seven years. see the terms of reference of the resulting working group
This is in order to compile the cumulative experience for collective understanding and memory, as also to provide specific guidelines for holding future events.

As a part of that assessment and guideline drafting process, one team is in charge of a quantitative survey, while we, "the input collection team" , are circulating a set of 12 items on which to make inputs in order to develop a global level experience and suggestion sharing about organisation of wsf events among wsf process participants

PERSONS, (OR  THROUGH THEM ORGANISATIONS),  HAVING EXPERIENCE OF WSF EVENTS ORGANISATION AS EVENT ORGANISERS OR AS ACTIVITY ORGANISERS ARE INVITED TO PROVIDE HEREBELOW  INPUTS  WHETHER EXISITNG TEXTS OR  SPECIFICALLY DRAFTED SUGGESTIONS about  any of the 12- items list below listing 12 main tasks to be performed to organize a WSF event

Invitation to make inputs has been sent on IC list on April 26th and is ongoing . It will be extended to broader lists .
A synthesis of inputs will be made for belem IC late October 2007

international representation in OC

Posted by Group facilitation tasks at 2007-10-20 23:00
(contributed by IFTDH terre des hommes )
For IFTDH it is clear that at least the International NGOs that since the begining have participated in the WSF process and have committed to the financial sustain must be part of the OC. A representative of each National Committee must also be included in the OC.

event funding by non profit organisations

Posted by Group facilitation tasks at 2007-10-20 23:00
(contributed by IFTDH terre des hommes)
IFTDH is very concerned about the fact that the last WSF has been financed by several for profit organisations. IFTDH believes that only international and national movments must support the WSF not Goverments nor the profit sector.
In order to do this, National Committees and the International Committee must start the fund raising campaign in due advance.

contributing press officers to WSF

Posted by Group facilitation tasks at 2007-10-20 23:00
(contributed by IFDTH terre des hommes )
Each national delegation must ensure a number of media to cover the event; each International Organisation must put its press officer at disposal of the WSF as IFTDH has done during the last WSF.

national committees -

Posted by Group facilitation tasks at 2007-10-20 23:00
(contributed by mail by IFTDH)
For the International Federation Terre des hommes (IFTDH) the WSF is running every day in every country. We strive for a set of National Committees in each country providing an inclusive process of consultation among the subjects interested in sharing some relevant event of mobilisation, like common campaigns. The main body must be relatively stable in order to ensure continuity and must be composed of the representatives of each organisation participating in the event. The National Committee must be recognized as such by the IC.

looking back to the three body structure of wsf 2004 mobilization

Posted by pierre george at 2007-10-20 23:00
the text "Roles and Responsibilities of the India General Council, India Working Committee and India Organising Committee" seems, formally at least, an inspiring example of how to create three inclusive concentric bodies

It is accessible in the " Collection of relevant documents about wsf events organizing" document at first level of this same group space you re in now : http://wsfprocess.net/groups/icwg-on-wsfevents-inputscollectionteam/folder_listing

maybe members of IOC currently active in IC could comment on this .....

The Organisation Committee must force participants to better coordinate themselves in order to avoid the duplication of workshops, seminars and so on.

priorities definition

Posted by Group facilitation tasks at 2007-10-20 23:00
(contributed by IFTDG terre des hommes)
The IC must be aware of the real priorities of the WSF as whole. Through an extensive process of consultation of national platforms and International NGOs. The IC must take the final decisions about the priorities.
